NZS3603 Public consultation document released by DBH

NZS3603, Amendment 4, is with the Department of Building & Housing (DBH) to be cited in the approved documents of the Building Code.
We have been informed that the public consultation document will be released on Monday, 23 May 2005, and will be available on the DBH website.
The public consultation document proposes implementation of the changes on 1 October 2005 with a two month transition period; i.e. the new requirements will be effective on 1 December 2005. The closing date for submissions will be 15 July 2005.
Unless public comments can buy more time, the new grades, associated stress values and verification standard, will become mandatory on 1 December 2005. If you intend producing verified timber you must be ready to do so by this date at the latest.
